Melengkapi deretan serial Toy Story, Pixar akhirnya memutuskan untuk melanjutkan kisah petualangan Woody, Buzz Lightyear dan para mainan lainnya di Toy Story 3. Toy Story 3 sendiri merupakan film animasi unggulan Walt Disney/Pixar untuk dirilis pada tahun 2010 mendatang.

Untuk kali ini, dikisahkan sang pemilik mainan, Andi, menitipkan Woody, Buzz Lightyear di tempat penitipan mainan karena ia akan melanjutkan pendidikannya ke bangku kuliah.

Seluruh cast asli Toy Story kembali untuk mengisi seri ketiga ini, termasuk Tom Hanks dan Tim Allen yang kembali mengisi suara Woody dan Buzz Lightyear. Untuk menyambut kedatangan Toy Story 3, Walt Disney/Pixar akan merilis kembali Toy Story dan Toy Story 2 dalam bentuk 3 D pada 2 Oktober 2009. Toy Story 3 direncanakan akan dirilis pada 18 Juni 2010.
